ISO27001: What does it mean for you?

A wave of pride has swept through the Starboard IT after our recent ISO27001 certification, and for very good reason.   This is recognition of the quality of workmanship that our staff and management deliver day to day and clearly set us apart from providers that are not certified.

For those not familiar with this particular standard, ISO27001 is ALL about information security management and achieving this standard no easy feat.  Companies must demonstrate that they are achieving high standards of security practices in all aspects of their operations, from environmental security to dealing with privacy to internal policy and procedure.  A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, so this is a holistic approach to Information Security.   The idea is to create and maintain the conditions that define the security of sensitive information, for example your financial data or client information. These affect the processes and IT systems in place as well as the people, data integrity is everything.

When you handle sensitive business data or personal information it’s essential to have the best information security methods implemented. For Starboard IT following the ISO 27001 standard, securing information is of the highest priority for us. We follow the cutting edge standards that determine; the best ways to store date, the priority of controlled access as well as safe usage and describe how the data should be disposed of when its no longer required. This systematic approach reduces the severity of regular information security threats to a business. By achieving ISO27001 we not only protect ourselves to the highest ISMS standard, we can also protect your business data in a range of ways from auditing your data security to managing your cloud migration, if looking for a trusted partner to help support your data Starboard IT can help.
